Meaning

1. A region in the eastern United States, covering a part of the Appalachian Mountains, that stretches from southwestern Pennsylvania to northern Alabama, usually excluding New York State and New England.
2. An island landmass occurring during most of the Late Cretaceous (100.5 to 66 million years ago) that now makes up the eastern half of North America.
3. A town in Wise County, Virginia.
