1. A city in the Middle East which, according to the Hebrew Bible and to Islamic tradition, was destroyed by God (along with Sodom) for the sins of its inhabitants.

From Ancient Greek Γόμορρᾰ (Gómorrhă), from Biblical Hebrew עֲמֹרָה (ʿămōrā).
