Meaning

1. The land of sunshine and plenty, beyond Boreas (the northern wind), home to the hyperboreans (a race of giants).

Etymology / origin

From Ancient Greek ὑπερβόρεος (huperbóreos), a compound of ὑπέρ (hupér, “over”) + βόρειος (bóreios, “northern”).
