Meaning

1. A fictional language and a constructed language. The fictional language of the Romulans, a fictional extraterrestrial race from Star Trek. Created words and phrases from Star Trek have been latterly expanded upon to create a constructed language, that some among the Star Trek fandom attempt to build into a usable language.
2. A member of a fictional alien race, described as being cunning and opportunistic.
3. Pertaining to the fictional extraterrestrial race, or its fictional polity, the Romulan Star Empire; from Star Trek.

Etymology / origin

From Romulus + -an. From the Star Trek franchise, in which they are described as being from the planet Romulus, drawing inspiration from the Roman origin story of Romulus and Remus.
