Meaning

1. Their Eastern Nilotic, North Maa language.
2. A member of an ethnic group of semi-nomadic pastoralists of north central Kenya, related to but distinct from the Maasai.

Etymology / origin

From an old Maasai word, saamburr, for the leather bag the Samburu use.
