Torlak

Meaning

1. The unstandardized South Slavic dialect group spoken by the Torlaks.
2. Any of a group of Slavic inhabitants of western Bulgaria, south-eastern Serbia and northern North Macedonia, who speak a common dialect.

Etymology / origin

Probably a derivative of Serbo-Croatian torlati (“to talk noisily”), though other theories exist.
