Meaning

1. A group of editors who work together on improving the coverage of a particular topic on a wiki, especially on Wikipedia.

Etymology / origin

Compound of wiki + project. Coined before 26 September 2001 (see quotations) by Wikipedian Manning Bartlett, creator of the concept earlier that month.
